02/10/07 - Trip to Indian Hills

You all have heard or read about 29 dreams. Its a motorcycle resort in Vandiver, AL. Many Birmingham area bikers hang out there. Its a little like "Cheers" except that Norman rides a BMW. We heard about a new motorcycle resort down south of Talladega called Indian Hills. Since my last posting all the nice warm weather has completely gone. In fact its one of the worst cold snaps in a number of years. As bikers we can wait a week or two but eventually no matter what the weather we have to get out, and today was one of those days. It was barely above freezing when I left to meet the Cruisers. Mental note: If your boots are no longer water proof, they are no longer AIR proof. If you have any air leaks in your winter outfit, a near freezing day will definately find it, and I found a major one with my left boot which is now off limits for any further winter riding. Aside from that it was a beautiful day. Not too many crazy's out there on a day like this, but somebody has to keep the faith. The resort itself wasn't really anything special. It was basically a bar out in the woods with a chopper sitting on the porch. It is definately aimed for these hard core chopper driving hooligans who like to drink too much and tell lies about how awsome they are in a bar fight. The roof had 5 or 6 bra's hanging from it, all signed by their former owners. I asked the lady behind the bar why they were up there, apparently its a tradition that when a lady shoe's her "assets", She gets to be imortalized by having her bra hanging for all eternity in front a bunch of drunk tatoo covered bikers. Yippee! I asked her what I would have to do to have an artical of my clothing up there but she wasn't buying. It was nice to get out but I wonder if part of the euphoria I feel is just my body's reaction to nearly freezing to death. When is Spring?
