02/24/07- Ride to the Shack
Saturday was supposed to be the first official event for Jade with the riding club. However at 4:30AM she was up tossing her cookies. The next morning she was definately not in bike riding mood. It wasn't going to be a long ride so I left her with her older sister and went to meet the club. It was originally going to be me, Marshall and Doug my brother-in-law. He just went to the "dark side" as they say buying a Harley Davidson, Its a top of the line Ultra classic, If your going to own a Harley, this would be the one to have. Anyway, Marshall didn't show up but the bulk of the west side chapter 451 did so we left Argo with no less than 15 or so bikes. The destination was "The Shack" a barBQ I'd heard about near Talladega. When we got there I was a bit horrified at the size of the place or lack of size. but were were all seated comfortably inside. The BarBQ was pretty good and I was horrified again when they wouldn't take plastic. It amazes me that there are still places on the earth that don't take plastic. I'll bet you can go to the deepest darkest of Africa and buy crap with a credit card. but you can't buy squat at this place. Luckily they took a check. We took the long way home past 29 dreams. Not much going on there, the day was good but not nearly as warm as we had all hoped, the predicted 75 degrees never happened. We finished up early as it looked like the rain would come in soon. It was good to get a little ride in, but I really needed something a little longer to de-stress. It seems to take 3 or 4 hours in the saddle just to get in the right frame of mind. I guess I'll have to plan another maiden voyage for Jade.
