03/23/07 - Half Day Off

The weather this March has been better than normal but it seems time is short. I've had small rides here and there but nothing worth writing about, I had a camping trip at 29 dreams planned on this day so I took half a day off to ride. I met some friends at What-a-Burger in Trussville and we rode. I just followed my nose, and my GPS. We went West toward Gardendale but turned north on Bradford road. We meandered in the country for a long while and popped out on 79. We turned north for a while, at one point the trailing bike, driven by a friend named Stan fell back, he soon caught back up but he was missing his helmet, we stopped a short time later to learn he'd been stung by a bee when it few in his helmet, an all too common problem for bikers. We continued north on 79 until we got to 231 and followed it south until we got to pell city and took Wolf Creek Road to 29 Dreams. We enjoyed a steak dinner and a fire that night, It was likely are final such night at 29 Dreams as the owner has decided to eliminate overnight accomidations. No one was happy to learn this as 29 had become a welcome break from the pressure of family life and responsibility. We can do this elsewhere, but we will have to travel further to do it. I guess all good things eventually come to an end.
