03/31/07 - The Shack II
A while back the preacher at Bradford Road Rodney Davis asked me to help him get a motorcycle rider group going at Church, I agreed and Saturday was our first official event. We have done two short rides after church but this was the first ride of any distance. It feels a little odd being with a different group after so many years with the Southern Cruisers, additionally this group has some experienced riders but for the most part they are less experienced on average, they are a lot like we were in the Trussville chapter when we began, Mixing the two groups could be a problem because the SCRC are like a well oiled machine and can chew up whole states while with this group, I was just glad to get back with no fatalities. Which thanks to the good lord, we did. Once again I ate at the Shack and we continued on to Mt Cheaha for some photo's. The Preacher led us from there some back way home that was real nice, all togather it was 160 miles. At the end of the day they were mostly tuckered out, The next day I read where the SCRC on the same day had thrown down a mere 280 miles, yup, these two groups aren't quite ready to mix yet. I still like the kind of ride we did today, often referred to as a "flower sniffin ride" but I know many of my SCRC friends would get a little bored with it. The church group which has yet to name itself, they are some fine folks and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy riding with them in the future.
