02/09/08 - Winter break
Its been a fairly brutal winter with waves of cold and wet weather, and last weekend when a dry 60 degree day came I was laid up in bed with a back problem. I am still having issues with my back but I have gotten well enough to start riding again. Today one of the Southern Cruisers put together a beautiful ride out near the Georgia State line and back. The route was entirely backroads and I do mean BACK roads, I don't think we passed much anything except for cows, barns and chicken houses. We did stop to eat at what he called the Grist Mill which was in the vicinity of Talladega. It was an old school restaurant next to a beautiful creek just off of Hwy 77. Too bad they couldn't get any green tomato's because I heard their fried green ones are great. Have you ever noticed with these family owned restaurants that the better the food the skinnier the employee's are? whats up with that. Anyway it was a rare winter day of about 200 miles. It was beautiful all day.
